Phone rage
A. Globalisation has helped to make the telephone as essential business communication tool. Before you read the article discuss these questions.
1. Do you like using the phone?
Answer: Yes.
2. What makes you angry on the phone?
Answer: When people call me at 1 AM saying: “Is this an apartment of a negro with black ass?” (Probably racists were calling. I am a white person but I stand for the rights of black people).
3. What are the special problems of telephone communication compared to face-to-face communication?
Answer: It is difficult to catch those you said “Is this an apartment of a negro with black ass?” I had to address the police to chase these guys. The police classified this telephone call as hooliganism. The police laugh a lot of my adventures. In face-to-face communication I would probably punch those guys.
Answers to the questions:
1. What infuriates people most of all is talking to someone who sounds inattentive, unconcerned or insincere.
2. People are much more likely to express anger over the phone, rather than in writing or face-to-face. Moreover, telephone usage has been rising steeply over recent years. Increasing number of transactions takes place entirely by phone, from arranging insurance to paying bills. In addition, people’s expectations have risen. Nearly three-quarters of respondents to the survey said they are more confident that their problems can be solved over the telephone than they were five years ago.
I do not agree with that because these are opinions of Western cowards, here in (the) Ukraine I would rather attack a person face-to-face than do that over the telephone.
